Overlord Volume 2 Light Novel Review *No Spoilers
To avoid spoilers, this review is going to be short and sweet.
The surreal and fantastical writing from the first light novel has been delivered once again. All of the passages are well thought out and the protagonist’s perspective is outlined in more detail than the anime.
In addition, if you go to Barnes & Noble's website right now, this book is eligible for the buy 2 get 1 free deal from Yen Press!
Better Focus on the Villains
Momonga/Ainz isn’t the only one who we get to learn more about as well. The villains Khajit and Clementine also get a great deal more backstory and character development compared to the anime as well.
This is one of the highlights of the novel, since the anime presented these two characters as flat evil characters with no reason as to why they are that way. The way they are handled in this volume is fantastic, and makes their motives and evil actions more relatable and realistic.
Final Thoughts
All in all, the writing and beautiful illustrations for each chapter are more than worth investigating. And if you were like me and didn’t like that Khajit and Clementine were evil “just because” in the anime, you will also be pleased to see this flaw no where in volume 2. Another fantastic read.
I would like to thank Yen Press for publishing this work, and of course the author Kugane Maruyama, and the illustrator so-bin. Another amazing read! Make sure to buy it and support this work!
